HELLO...
I’m Nicola Nicholls, creator and owner of The Pretty Sugar Cake Company.
My love of cake – and my sweet tooth - started at a very early age. I loved baking and learned all the traditional fundamentals with both Nanas as a child. I have a creative background with an education in art and fashion design followed by a career in fashion retail and visual merchandising.
I found myself in the fabulous world of ‘couture’ cake quite by chance when planning my own wedding in 2011. I decided to make my own wedding cake and it was then that I discovered a natural hidden talent for cake decorating and a passion for pretty sugar craft. Designing and creating wedding cakes allows me to indulge my passion for pretty styling and delicious cake – perfect!
I have spent many hours perfecting my recipes and flavour combinations; I am a firm believer that a cake should taste just as good as it looks,, plus time researching and learning new skills in sugar craft including training at Squires Kitchen International Cookery School, the leading independent school of cake decorating and sugar craft in the UK.
My workshop is at home in Ripponden, West Yorkshire and I love meeting and working with different clients - some who know exactly what they want from their wedding cake design or those who haven’t got a clue! I can help with both, ensuring a cake just perfect for you and your special day.
